Tizen running on the Samsung Galaxy S2: A sneak peak at the Galaxy S4?

Last week we took a look into the hitherto mysterious world of Tizen, Samsung and Intel?s ace-in-the-hole operating system that looks set to replace Bada as the Android backup du jour. Now a video?s escaped of it running on a Galaxy S2. Is this the kind of smartphone experience Samsung?s working towards?

The video below shows some Tizen UI elements on a build that?s been stuffed inside a Samsung Galaxy S2. It shows a bunch of neat animations and effects built in HTML5, which aim to differentiate the fledgling OS from the rest of the pack.

Whether these flourishes add anything to the usability remains to be seen, but they sure look purrdy. As we mentioned last week, Tizen is being built by the boffins at Samsung, Intel and several other key partners, and will provide the Sammie a way to ween itself off Android?when the time?s right.

Whilst it?s fair to say that Samsung and Google?s?partnership?has proved mutually very successful, blights like the issue with upgrading software ? such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich update, which took well over five months ? have caused Samsung some headaches.

Tizen: Everything you need to know

Samsung will no doubt be hoping that Tizen, shown here running on a modified Galaxy S2, can prove to be competent enough to power its next line of flagship phones, without the masses feeling the brunt of a shift in operating system.

To that end, news broke yesterday that Tizen will run Android apps without much fuss, allowing Samsung the ability to stock it with the complete Google repository on day one. That?s a powerful sell, and will avoid issues the likes of which Windows Phone is struggling with.

So, one obvious question remains: Is this what the Samsung Galaxy S4?s UI will look like?
