Off-lot feature production in Los Angeles surged 51% last week as feature filming posted its most active period of the year by far.Overall production for films, TV and spots totaled 628 permitted production days during the week that ended Sunday, up 34% compared with the year-ago period, according to figures provided Tuesday by the FilmL.A. permitting agency.Feature activity shot up 60 days to 178 days as "Neighbors" posted the highest number of permitted days at 22. Other features currently shooting in Los Angeles include "Between Us," "Celeste & Jess Forever," "Dark hearts," The Antisocial Network" and "Four Noble Truths."The previous 2011 weekly high for offlot feature shoots was 122 during mid-March and the 2010 total year was up 8.1% to 5,378 days, or a weekly average of 103 days. Offlot feature shooting still remains far below the levels of the mid-1990s, when tracking of permits began.TV shooting for the week rose 28% to 329 days or 71 more than the same week last year. Mission Prods.' reality show "TCD" was the most active offlot TV producer with 15 days.TV dramas shooting currently in Los Angeles include "True Blood," "Rizzoli and Isles," "Switched," "Alien Persona" and "Hawthorne." Sitcoms shooting locally include "Chemistry" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."Commercials posted a 21% hike during the week with 121 days. Smuggler Inc. was the most active producer with 15 days; a spot for Converse was the most active production with 10 days.
